Let’s start with talking about what sleep learning even is!
Sleep learning is you and your baby starting where they are at, with the skills they have, and learning together in a way that fits each of you, to help them develop independent sleep skills. (Falling asleep on their own, transitioning between sleep cycles, soothing themself back to sleep, sleeping through the night, etc.)
It’s like learning any independent skill in life, such as teaching a toddler to use a spoon/fork. Getting to the point of using utensils might start with them holding their bottle, then being spoon-fed by someone else, then them using their fingers to feed themself pieces of food, and eventually gets to them feeding themself with a spoon and/or fork. You start with what skills they have, and slowly build on them until they are able to do it independently.
Remember, sleep learning is something you are doing WITH your baby. It’s the first time for each of you, so you are learning together. Even if you have other children, there’s not a “one size fits all” for this. Every baby is different and has different needs. And that’s okay! I’m here to help you figure out what your baby/toddler needs to develop those independent sleep skills.
